MP Jeta Statovci has criticized the proposal for a transitional government put forward by LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku, describing it as an impractical solution that could undermine democratic accountability.

Speaking to Klan Kosova, Statovci argued that a government including all parties would effectively be unaccountable, as the Parliament would lack the mechanisms to oversee and challenge the executive branch.

“Lumir Abdixhiku offered an ‘all-inclusive’ government. We were sufficient to resolve the necessary processes in the country. Even with NISMA’s participation or potential expansion, issues such as the president’s role could have been addressed,” she said.

Statovci emphasized that the original invitation from Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV) to form a coalition would have been sufficient to resolve the country’s institutional deadlock. She criticized the alternative proposal as illogical and potentially authoritarian:

“The idea of an all-party government is, in a way, a totalitarian government. If all parties are part of it, who ensures accountability? What mechanism exists to hold a government composed of all political forces responsible?” Statovci asked.

The remarks highlight persistent political tension in Kosovo, where forming a functioning government has been challenging since the 2025 elections. LVV’s mandate to form a new government, assigned to Glauk Konjufca, has faced opposition from LDK, PDK, AAK, and NISMA Socialdemokrate, who are calling for new elections instead.

Statovci’s warning underlines the risks of over-inclusive coalitions, which, while intended to foster unity, may compromise transparency, accountability, and the separation of powers, central pillars of Kosovo’s democratic framework.
