Germany’s President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, has extended his congratulations to Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, on the 17th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence, reaffirming Germany’s unwavering support for Kosovo’s sovereignty and its path toward European integration.

In his message, Steinmeier recalled Germany’s early recognition of Kosovo’s independence in February 2008, highlighting the deepening cooperation between the two nations in security policies, EU integration reforms, and climate and energy initiatives.

The German president also commended Kosovo’s alignment with EU foreign and security policy, particularly its support for Ukraine against Russia’s aggression.

“Germany continues to strongly support Kosovo’s international recognition and its aspiration to join the European Union,” Steinmeier emphasized.

He concluded by reaffirming Germany’s role as a steadfast ally of Kosovo, committed to promoting its stability, development, and European future.
