Europe is grappling with the impact of Storm Herminia, which has brought torrential rain, powerful winds, and massive waves to several countries, including Spain, Portugal, France, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. The storm was named on Friday by Spanish meteorological authorities following reports of intense hurricane-like conditions.

Fatalities and Damage in Spain

In Ourense, a weather-related road accident claimed one life, while in the Galicia region, over 13,000 homes were left without power on Monday, according to reports from A2 CNN.

Unprecedented Flooding in France

In France, eight departments are under orange weather alerts, while Ille-et-Vilaine is on red alert. The capital of this department, Rennes, is experiencing its worst flooding in 40 years.

Local authorities warned that conditions remain “unfavorable” as water levels continue to rise, forcing many families to evacuate their homes.

UK and Ireland Brace for Impact

In the southwest of the UK, particularly in Devon and Cornwall, a yellow weather warning has been issued. Over 1,000 properties are still without power, and authorities are monitoring the situation closely as the forecast indicates further deterioration.
