A strong earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale was felt at 5:53 a.m. in Reggio Calabria, Italy, with numerous reports also coming from Messina and other areas of Sicily and Calabria.

According to the website of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the epicenter was located in the sea near the Ionian coast, at a depth of 65 kilometers.

Italian media, citing data from local authorities, report that no damage has been recorded so far.
