A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck northern Japan today, with its epicenter in Aomori Prefecture at a depth of 61.6 kilometers, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Authorities reported that no tsunami warning was issued and no damage has been reported.
Earlier this month, a more powerful 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck northeastern Japan, highlighting the region’s ongoing seismic activity.
