Over 40 state-run universities across Serbia are officially on strike as protests intensify, with all faculties in Novi Sad also shut down. The student movement, gaining momentum in the country, today marked the tragic collapse of a shelter in Novi Sad earlier this month, which claimed several lives. To honor the victims, students blocked roads for 15 minutes and stood in front of their faculties in a collective show of solidarity.

Around 7:00 PM, students gathered in front of the Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS) headquarters, disrupting the evening news broadcast scheduled for 7:30 PM. The protests targeted the RTS for not covering their activities and for President Aleksandar Vučić’s accusations that the student protests were financially orchestrated.

Students from all faculties involved in the blockades stated that their demands have yet to be met, directly challenging President Vučić’s recent statement, where he claimed that he had fulfilled all of the students’ requests and urged them to end the blockades.
