Čedomir Stojković, a Serbian lawyer and political analyst, said in an interview from Belgrade on the show Balkan Talks that the current wave of student-led protests in Serbia may have the potential to bring down President Aleksandar Vučić by the fall.
“Student protests have gained real momentum, and I believe they will peak at the end of summer and beginning of autumn. That’s when I expect the largest demonstrations Serbia has seen,” Stojković told Gazeta Sinjali.
According to him, these protests carry greater weight than previous ones and reflect widespread public dissatisfaction with the government’s failure to act on key demands — the most urgent being the fight against corruption.
Stojković also criticized Vučić for attempting to downplay the movement, accusing him of trying to preserve his grip on power by ignoring the voices of the youth and civil society.
“The government has not fulfilled any of the students’ demands, especially when it comes to combating corruption. This will only fuel greater resistance,” he stated.
As political tensions continue to grow, Stojković predicted that the fall could mark a turning point, potentially leading to Vučić’s fall from power after more than a decade of dominance.
