Serbian university students in blockade have issued a powerful statement condemning the political decay gripping the country, declaring that the “General Staff” investigation is not just a legal case but a defining moment that exposes the full extent of Aleksandar Vučić’s control over Serbia’s institutions.

In their declaration, the students express full support for the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (TOK) — one of the few state bodies still showing courage to act independently after prosecutors revealed new evidence in the controversial “General Staff” case, which has long been buried under layers of corruption, political deals, and oligarchic interests linked to the regime.

“The ‘General Staff’ case is a mirror of Serbia today a country where justice is suffocated, the law bends to political will, and institutions have been turned into tools of fear and obedience,” the students stated.

They warned that the courage of TOK prosecutors, who dare to confront the truth under immense political pressure, stands in stark contrast to the culture of silence imposed by Vučić’s regime. “Their actions show that integrity still exists — even in a state captured by a single man’s power.”

The statement demands that the investigation proceed “to the end, transparently and without political interference,” emphasizing that any obstruction or smear campaign against TOK will be treated as an open attack on the rule of law and democracy itself.

“The regime’s attempts to intimidate or discredit prosecutors are not just a cover-up — they are proof of guilt,” the students said, calling on citizens to stand against what they describe as “Vučić’s mafia-style governance, where loyalty is rewarded and truth is punished.”

Analysts describe the students’ defiance as one of the rare, brave voices left in a nation where fear has replaced debate and where institutions serve the powerful, not the people. Their message is clear: Serbia cannot move forward while justice is held hostage by those who rule through corruption, propaganda, and control.
