In El-Fasher, located in the northern Darfur region, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)—a paramilitary militia accused of serious human rights violations—have carried out widespread mass executions of civilians after taking control of the city following an 18-month siege.

According to reports from international media, including Human Rights Watch and other organizations, footage has emerged showing RSF fighters forcing civilians to the ground before opening fire on them.

Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation has reached a critical emergency stage: thousands of people have fled the city, while many others remain trapped without adequate food, water, or shelter.

Reports indicate that over 2,000 civilians were executed in the 48 hours following the fall of the city, including at least 460 killed in an attack on a maternity hospital. Satellite images and field investigations have revealed mass graves and operations containing elements of ethnic cleansing, according to The Guardian.

A UN diplomat described the situation as “a crisis surpassing any humanitarian response in North Africa.”

Currently, allegations of involvement by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in supporting the RSF through arms supplies and financial aid have raised serious international concerns, although the UAE denies any responsibility. UN envoys have called for immediate sanctions and a suspension of arms exports to Sudan.
