Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen will visit Kosovo, Albania, and Serbia from September 4 to 5. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen political and trade relations with Finland’s partners in the Western Balkans, according to the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During her visit, Valtonen will meet with the foreign ministers of Albania, Kosovo, and Serbia, as well as with the political leadership in Tirana, Pristina, and Belgrade.
The discussions will focus on bilateral relations, EU enlargement, stability and security in the Western Balkans, the situation in Ukraine, and current issues related to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
“Finland strongly supports the path of Western Balkan countries towards EU membership. The welfare and stability of the region are crucial for all of Europe, including Finland. We need to strengthen cooperation with our closest partners, especially given the current European security environment. The EU is already the closest partner to the Western Balkan countries. Finland is also deepening its commitment to the region,” stated the ministry.
