Publicist Veton Surroi, speaking in a discussion on the podcast PIKË with activist Rron Gjinovci, stated that ending the conflict with Serbia is both a historic and moral obligation of the current generation.
“It is the duty of this generation — to which I also belong — to resolve this issue and not leave it to the next ones,” emphasized Surroi, adding that people deserve to be freed from the burden of a problem that has lasted for decades.
According to him, the unresolved conflict with Serbia — even though the state of Kosovo is formally consolidated in its territory and governance — continues to have a deep impact on political thinking and the perception of security.
“This has been and remains a security issue. And we must always be prepared for it to stay that way until a peace agreement with Serbia is achieved,” Surroi said.
He agreed with Gjinovci’s view that Serbia remains Kosovo’s main political preoccupation, arguing that the resolution of this issue cannot be postponed any longer and represents a historical responsibility for both the political class and society as a whole.
