Shtime – June 27, 2025
Two suspected unexploded anti-personnel mines were safely removed on Thursday afternoon from the village of Caraleva, in the municipality of Shtime, following a coordinated intervention by the Kosovo Security Force (FSK) and KFOR troops from the United States and Finland.
Authorities were alerted at approximately 12:40 PM by local resident R. Sh., who reported the presence of a suspicious device in the area. Following a prompt risk assessment and perimeter security measures, demining units from the FSK and KFOR were deployed to the scene.
At around 5:50 PM, the joint team successfully removed two mines classified as E2 and E8 anti-personnel mines. The operation was completed without incident.
Sources confirmed that the entire process was handled with utmost professionalism and that the area has since been declared secure.
This marks yet another example of effective collaboration between Kosovo’s institutions and NATO-led forces, maintaining safety and security for local communities.
