Arben Gashi, who did not secure enough votes to become a deputy but managed to enter after Gazmend Muhaxheri’s departure from his elected mandate, has requested a recount at the Counting Center in Pristina.
Moreover, he spoke about the manipulation of postal votes from the diaspora.
Although he received nearly double the votes compared to 2021, Arben Gashi claims that this result does not reflect the true will of the voters towards him.
He requested a recount at the Counting and Results Center in Pristina.
“It is a failure,” he said, and called for “preserving trust in the democratic process.”
“Another phenomenon observed in these elections is the massive manipulation of the diaspora vote. As we can see, these votes have been manipulated, especially within political parties. Democracy, among other things, is also trust in elected institutions. The country needs representative and trustworthy institutions,” Arben Gashi wrote.
In his statement, Gashi found “approval” from several of his party colleagues, such as Driton Selmanaj, Avdullah Hoti, and Rrezarta Krasniqi, among others.
In a softer form, he also received approval from Hykmete Bajrami, who, although in general terms, supported the request for a recount and the investigation “of every doubt.”
“Let each vote be recounted, let each doubt be investigated, let everything be verified. We have institutions tasked with this work, so no one should be afraid of a recount and investigation,” Bajrami wrote.
“Every doubt must be clarified quickly and decisively because only in this way can the trust and integrity of the electoral process be strengthened. For the LDK, the will of the citizens is sacred, and anyone who has tried to deviate from it belongs in prison. We are all equal before the law.”
“Every member, every supporter, every voter should be engaged to protect the values of the LDK and restore it as the first political force, serving all citizens of the country.”
Rrezarta Krasniqi – who officially appears to have been harmed by “1 vote” – issued an updated list after the recounts in Vushtrri.
Another candidate from Vushtrri, according to her, received 88 more votes, while she claimed to have been harmed by “dozens of votes.”
“For more detailed information about the distortion of the will of the citizens of Vushtrri regarding me as a candidate of the Democratic League of Kosovo and some other colleagues, you will be informed after the full report that will be published by the prosecution,” she wrote.
