KEDS has started installing new electric meters following reports of inaccuracies in the measurement of electricity consumption.

Teams have begun replacing old meters in several neighborhoods of the capital, according to company sources.

The issue of potentially inaccurate meters has also drawn the attention of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Innovation (MINTI). In a statement yesterday, MINTI announced the formation of a special commission to oversee electric meters.

“To ensure transparency, accuracy, and protection of citizens’ interests, and in accordance with Law No. 06/L-034 on Consumer Protection, the Department for Consumer Protection established a special commission on March 31, 2026, to verify electric meters,” the statement read.

Although no official complaints from citizens have been received so far, the ministry encouraged anyone with concerns to submit their complaints to the designated institution.
