The Ministry of Internal Affairs held the first meeting of the working group for drafting the National Strategy Against Organized Crime today.
It was announced that this meeting was part of a collaborative effort to strengthen institutional capacities and intensify actions against organized crime, in line with international standards and best practices.
“The Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Xhelal Sveçla, during the opening of the meeting, reiterated that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo prioritizes a relentless fight against organized crime and corruption. Zero tolerance for these phenomena is not just a policy but an approach aimed at the maximum engagement of every institution to ensure that no one is above the law,” stated the ministry’s press office.
“The commitment of security institutions has marked significant progress in the fight against organized crime, including the neutralization of major criminal and terrorist groups throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo,” Minister Sveçla assessed, while expressing his support for the Kosovo Police and other relevant institutions in achieving the shared goal of combating organized crime.
Additionally, it was revealed that during the meeting, key issues for improving inter-institutional cooperation were discussed.
“In conclusion, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to fulfilling the objectives of the Strategy and emphasized the importance of aligning it with national policies and those of the European Union. The Ministry of Internal Affairs remains dedicated to ensuring a coordinated and comprehensive approach in the fight against organized crime, guaranteeing the safety and well-being of citizens,” the Ministry stated in its announcement.
