Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, met with the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, Mr. David Lammy, where they discussed areas of mutual cooperation between the two countries, with a special focus on security.
“On this occasion, Minister Sveçla thanked the United Kingdom for the continuous support they have provided to the Republic of Kosovo in various stages of state-building. Regarding the security sector, Minister Sveçla emphasized that the United Kingdom is one of the strategic partners that continues to support Kosovo in the field of security,” said the Ministry of Internal Affairs in its statement.
During the meeting, Minister Sveçla emphasized that Kosovo’s institutions are making maximum efforts to combat irregular migration, and for this purpose, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has set up special units that are monitoring the latest migration trends and taking the necessary actions to fight this phenomenon.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of State for the United Kingdom, Mr. David Lammy, praised the progress being made in Kosovo and reiterated the continuous support of the British Government to the Republic of Kosovo, particularly in strengthening security mechanisms.
During this visit, the United Kingdom’s donation of equipment for Border Control and Management for the Republic of Kosovo’s state border and equipment for the National Border Management Center was also presented.
