Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, has offered a brief but clear reaction to the latest statement made by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding his alleged role in preventing a potential armed conflict between Kosovo and Serbia.

Speaking to the media, Minister Sveçla expressed appreciation for the longstanding support of the United States toward Kosovo, emphasizing the importance of the bilateral relationship that has shaped Kosovo’s modern history.

“We are deeply grateful for the support of the United States throughout the entire history of the Republic of Kosovo,” said Sveçla.

His remarks follow Trump’s renewed claims during a recent speech, where he stated that during his presidency, he personally intervened to halt a possible escalation between Kosovo and Serbia. Trump asserted that he received direct commitments from both parties to avoid conflict, crediting his administration with preventing a new war in the Balkans.

While the statement sparked broad public attention and debate, the Government of Kosovo has so far remained measured in its official response, underlining gratitude for U.S. engagement without delving into the specifics of Trump’s claims.

The United States has been a key ally in Kosovo’s path to independence and state-building, and officials in Prishtina consistently highlight the importance of continued American involvement in maintaining peace and stability in the Western Balkans.
