Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter has confirmed that Switzerland is among 15 countries with which the United States has initiated negotiations for a potential trade agreement following the imposition of U.S. tariffs.
She expressed satisfaction with the discussions taking place in Washington, highlighting that Switzerland is part of a select group of states with which the U.S. is seeking swift solutions to the tariff issue.
Although the full list of countries has not been disclosed, Keller-Sutter emphasized that the U.S. administration is committed to negotiating with these nations to explore ways to ease tariff tensions.
It is worth recalling that, prior to the Trump administration’s 90-day suspension of tariffs, Swiss imports faced a 31% tax rate, significantly higher than the one applied to European Union member states. Notably, Switzerland is not a member of the EU.
