Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, has welcomed Syria’s decision to recognize the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state.
In a post on X, Spiropali wrote that Kosovo is securing its rightful place within the family of nations, emphasizing the country’s democratic progress and the efforts of its people and institutions.
“Kosovo is advancing on its path of strengthening its international subjectivity, thanks to the efforts of its people and institutions in building a democratic and developed state — and with the support of its friends and partners who have aided this process of recognition and state-building.”
Minister Spiropali also expressed special gratitude to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud for his role in supporting the realization of this recognition.
“I am convinced that recognition after recognition, Kosovo will secure its rightful place in the great family of nations. Congratulations, Kosovo!” she concluded.
With this development, Syria becomes the 120th country to recognize Kosovo’s independence since its declaration in February 2008, marking a new diplomatic milestone in Kosovo’s international journey.
