Former Kosovo negotiator Edita Tahiri has written about the situation at the Iber Bridge.
In a Facebook post, she stated that the decision to either deploy or remove KFOR troops from the Iber Bridge was a message to both Kosovo and Serbia. According to her, KFOR, with its mandate, protects Kosovo wherever there is a threat to the state.
“Our significant decision at the Rambouillet Conference made Kosovo a free and independent state under NATO’s protection. At that time, we faced pressure from diplomats to accept the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces in Kosovo, but we categorically rejected this. We were adamant that we would only accept NATO, and we made it a reality. In other words, any reckless action, no matter where it comes from, cannot jeopardize our state of Kosovo, which we achieved through political wisdom, arms, diplomacy, and the sublime sacrifice of the Albanian people,” she wrote.
