Head of the parliamentary group of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Besnik Tahiri, has warned that businesses in Kosovo are on the verge of collapse due to high fuel prices and fiscal burdens, urging the government to reduce excise duties and VAT on fuel.

Tahiri stressed that every day without concrete action is pushing enterprises closer to closure and putting thousands of jobs at risk. He added that government attempts to control prices by forcing businesses to sell at a loss are not a viable solution.

According to Tahiri, the experiences of Ukraine during crises and the model of Japan with state reserves demonstrate the appropriate ways to respond in such economic situations.

He called for the immediate reduction of at least 8 cents from VAT and the removal of excise tax on fuel until the situation stabilizes, warning that without such intervention, a wave of business closures and job losses is inevitable.
