The Foreign Minister of Tanzania, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, voiced his country’s support for Kosovo’s commitment to peace during the third edition of the International Forum for Women, Peace, and Security, currently being held in Prishtina.

Speaking at the event, Minister Kombo emphasized the shared experiences between Tanzania and Kosovo, suggesting that the two nations have more in common than is often recognized.

“Tanzania and Kosovo have similar histories, though we may not fully know each other’s stories,” he remarked.

A Growing Understanding Between Nations

Kombo shared that he recently learned more about Kosovo’s past, noting that in Africa, people are often aware of the former Yugoslavia but are less familiar with Kosovo’s specific historical journey.

“We’ve learned from history in Africa that there was once a country called Yugoslavia,” he said, highlighting how recent exposure had deepened his understanding of Kosovo’s path to statehood.

Shared Values in Leadership

Drawing a personal connection, Kombo noted that both countries currently have women presidents and expressed admiration for Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani.

“My president, who delegated me to attend this forum, shares a similar vision with your president,” he added, underlining the importance of female leadership in fostering peace and inclusivity.

The forum continues to serve as a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and empowerment, bringing together global voices in support of peace, gender equality, and international solidarity.
