Authorities in Tehran have confirmed that Ali Larijani, a top security official and secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has been killed.
In an official statement, the Supreme National Security Council described Larijani as “martyred” after a lifetime of public service.
The confirmation follows remarks by Israel Katz, who stated earlier that Larijani had been “eliminated,” suggesting Israeli involvement.
According to Iranian authorities, Larijani was killed alongside several others, including his son and members of his security staff. He had recently emerged as one of the most influential figures in Iran amid escalating regional tensions.
The development marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict involving Iran and Israel, raising concerns about further instability in the region.
