The atmosphere has intensified outside the Istanbul court, where hundreds of supporters of Ekrem Imamoglu have gathered, chanting in favor of the mayor of Istanbul, while police forces push them back.
Despite the ban on gatherings, which is effective until March 27, Imamoglu’s supporters remain outside the courthouse, as proceedings involving 34 investigators and 91 defendants (including Imamoglu) are expected to continue throughout the night. The police have turned the courthouse into a fortress, reinforced with an additional 5,000 officers from other regions of the country. Water cannons have been deployed, and dozens of drones have been sent into the air.
