At least six people were killed in a terrorist attack in the Gwadar district of Balochistan province, located in southwestern Pakistan.
According to local police authorities, the attack occurred when several armed individuals opened fire on civilians in the Kalmat area of Gwadar, killing five people, while one injured person succumbed to their wounds during treatment, Xinhua reported.
Police, security forces, and rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene, transferring the bodies and injured individuals to a nearby hospital.
Initial investigations revealed that the victims were workers traveling from Gwadar to the southern port city of Karachi to celebrate the upcoming Eid al-Fitr festival with their families.
Security forces have launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers, who managed to flee the scene. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack and ordered an investigation to identify the perpetrators and ensure their prosecution.
