Ahead of the resumption of court sessions against former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi at the Specialized Chambers in The Hague, his lawyer, Pierre-Richard Prosper, stated that the defense team is excited about this new phase of the trial, which aims to shed light on the historical events of 1999.

The President thanks everyone for supporting this process. Today gives us the opportunity to return to reality,” Prosper told reporters before the session.

He emphasized that this phase of the trial will be a turning point, during which evidence will be presented that, according to the defense, will demonstrate Hashim Thaçi’s innocence.

“This is an opportunity to revisit the truth about what really happened in Kosovo in 1999. We will see evidence showing that the President is not responsible for the accusations against him,” Prosper added.

Regarding the defense witnesses, he said it was not difficult to convince them to participate:

Everyone who will testify wants to share the truth. The process of obtaining the necessary legal authorizations has been successfully completed, and we hope the evidence will have a significant impact on the course of the case.”

On the testimony of James Rubin, Prosper declined to provide specifics:

I will let him testify for himself. This is a chance to hear the truth about what actually happened and the roles and responsibilities involved,” he said.

Prosper expressed confidence that a just final verdict will result from the process if the court follows the evidence and the truth.
