The Assembly responded to allegations that they convened a session in order to prevent the Serbian List from losing its mandates

The Parliament of Kosovo has issued a response regarding today’s session. The Parliament stated that the session was scheduled by the Presidency of the Parliament on June 24th and that no deputy would lose their mandate if today’s session was not held.

“In response to continuous media interest and in order to clarify to the public regarding the holding of today’s session, we inform you that the session was scheduled by the Presidency of the Parliament, during the meeting on June 24th, 2024, based on the volume of material for consideration. No deputy, including deputies from the ranks of the Serbian List, would lose their mandate in case today’s session is not held.”

The Parliament stated that the deputies from the Serbian List were last present in the Parliament on February 8th, and according to this, their mandates would not expire until the beginning of August.

“The deputies from the ranks of the Serbian List were last recorded as participants in the session on February 8th, 2024. Consequently, based on the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, their mandates would not expire until the beginning of August.”

The Parliament has announced that the Parliament sessions until the end of the spring session will be held in room 506.

“Furthermore, according to previous announcements, the work for the installation of new equipment in the session hall is expected to be completed during the break between the two sessions, and therefore, until the end of the spring session, the Parliament sessions will be held in room 506.”
