The attack in Banjskë has resulted in the issuance of 41 arrest warrants at the local level and 39 at the international level

The Kosovo Police have announced that in connection with the terrorist attack on September 24, 2023 in Banjskë, a total of 48 suspected individuals have been identified so far who participated in the attack, including three individuals neutralized during the anti-terror operation on that day.

Furthermore, according to the police, criminal charges have been filed against 45 individuals in relation to this terrorist attack, where soldier Afrim Bunjaku was killed, including three individuals who are currently under pre-trial detention.

As confirmed by the police to Dukagjini, these suspects are accused of a range of criminal offenses, including: Murder, Attack against the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo, Serious offenses against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo, Conspiracy to act against the constitutional order, Committing a terrorist act, Preparation of terrorist acts or criminal acts against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo, Money laundering, Financing of terrorism. The Kosovo Police have issued local arrest warrants against 41 suspected individuals and 39 international arrest warrants.

All findings during the examination of the scene of the incident, seized evidence, as well as during the analysis and examination of the evidence, along with all the material and accompanying documents, have been timely made available to the Special Prosecutor’s Office, as stated, among other things, in the response of the police for Dukagjini.

Meanwhile, in order to conduct thorough investigations, some evidence has been sent outside the country for examination, for which responses have not yet been received. This shows the dedication and commitment of the authorities to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to gather and analyze all relevant evidence in a meticulous and thorough manner.

The transparency and efficiency in handling the evidence and ensuring that it is promptly provided to the Special Prosecutor’s Office demonstrate the seriousness with which the authorities are approaching the investigation.
