The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has decided that Wednesday, July 3, 2024, will be declared a day of national mourning, on the occasion of the death of the world-famous Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare.
The state mourning will be on Wednesday, the day when Ismail Kadare will be buried, meanwhile the Office for Media of the Presidency announces that the State Protocol is charged to undertake all the necessary actions for the implementation of this decision.
President Osmani, in June of last year, decorated the writer Ismail Kadare with the “Hasan Prishtina” Order, among the highest Orders that the Republic of Kosovo gives to the nation’s most prominent personalities. Whereas, in August, the President announced the decree by which the world-famous Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare, was granted the citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo.
