The Supreme Court of Kosovo announced on Tuesday that it had dismissed as ‘inadmissible’ the appeal filed by the Vetëvendosje Movement against the decision of the Electoral Panel for Complaints and Appeals (PZAP) regarding the certification of the Serb List.
The Central Election Commission (KQZ) swiftly declared that the PZAP’s decision was final and must be implemented.
These developments were met with reactions from foreign embassies accredited in the country.
The U.S. Embassy expressed satisfaction with the KQZ’s decision.
“The electoral process must remain transparent, credible, and free from political interference. Voters must decide who is elected according to Kosovo’s democratic system, and all parties and candidates must reject any attempts to politicize the electoral process,” the U.S. Embassy stated.
The British Ambassador, Jonathan Hargreaves, also welcomed the KQZ’s certification of the Serb List for the February 9 elections.
He said that Kosovo’s democratic institutions have shown they are ready to ensure the rule of law is upheld.
“I welcome the certification by the Central Election Commission of the Serb List to participate in the upcoming elections. Kosovo’s democratic institutions have demonstrated that they are capable of ensuring the rule of law is applied and cannot be undermined by political appropriateness,” he stated in a post on the X platform.
