27 years ago, the Kosovo Liberation Army fought one of its fiercest battles against the Serbian army in Gllogjan. This event is also known as the Epic of Dukagjin. In honor of this day, several activities will take place on Monday, which is also known as the Day of the Martyrs of Dukagjin and the beginning of NATO’s airstrikes. The event will start with tributes at 11:00 AM at the Martyrs’ Cemetery in Gllogjan, followed by the central event at 12:00 PM, and an artistic program at 1:00 PM.
On March 24, 1998, a frontal battle took place in Gllogjan between the KLA forces and enemy forces that had surrounded the village. The objective was the Haradinaj family house, where they encountered strong resistance from the Kosovo Liberation Army, led by Ramush Haradinaj. On this day, martyrs Himë Haradinaj, Gazmend, and Agron Mehmetaj fell.
