Europe is prepared to act in response to potential trade restrictions, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said on Monday, following discussions with industry lobbies and the European Union’s chief trade representative about the threat of tariffs from the U.S.
“Europe must and can respond only in a united and determined way to unilateral trade restrictions. And we are prepared for that,” Habeck said in a statement, according to Reuters, as reported by Klankosova.tv.
Habeck held a roundtable with industry leaders on Monday regarding future transatlantic relations and spoke by phone with the EU’s trade commissioner, Maros Šefčovič, according to the statement.
