The steps you proposed are not enough… while your proposal for a new draft is neither suitable nor workable at present… you are in real danger of not joining the European Council without progress towards the Association.
This is what the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the three most powerful countries of the European Union: France, Germany and Italy, after the last letter sent by the Kosovar government, provided by the Gazeta Nacionale, said that they will draft a new statute of the Association as exchange for inclusion in the agenda of the ministerial meeting of the Council of Europe for the admission of Kosovo.
“Your proposal for the preparation of a new draft in consultation with the current mayors or deputies of the municipalities is neither suitable nor applicable for the current circumstances in these municipalities”, the three leaders told Kurti.
“Mr. Prime Minister, let’s be clear: There is a real risk that without decisive progress of the A/CSMM, Kosovo’s application, the Council of Europe will not receive sufficient support from member states. Moving forward now along the lines suggested by Quinti would demonstrate your commitment to minority rights, thereby strengthening Kosovo’s position and re-energizing the EU-facilitated Dialogue. This is the only way to ensure the success of your application”, they tell Kurti.
