The nationwide protest held today in the heart of Prishtina has come to an end, marking a powerful display of solidarity with the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) currently facing trial at the Specialist Chambers in The Hague.
The demonstration was filled with loud calls for justice and an end to what were described as unjust and biased proceedings against the liberators. The gathering was widely seen as a strong and unequivocal message against the actions of the Special Court, which many consider to be one-sided and politically driven.
Thousands of citizens from across Kosovo and the diaspora joined the peaceful protest, flooding the capital’s squares with Albanian flags and banners bearing messages of support for the KLA and its leadership.
Speeches were delivered by several prominent figures, including:
Hysni Gucati, head of the KLA War Veterans’ Organization (OVL-UÇK)
Arbër Cacaj, son of fallen fighter Nagip Cacaj
Nevenka Tromp, former investigator at the Hague Tribunal
Ali Ahmeti, leader of the DUI party in North Macedonia
The protest was conducted in a peaceful and dignified manner, delivering a unified voice in defense of the KLA’s liberation war and its values.
