On the critical night of November 29, the Kosovo Police traced the route used by the main suspects responsible for planting 20 kg of explosive material, identifying them through footprints.
The area where the terrorist attack occurred on the Ibër-Lepenc canal continues to be under surveillance, even four days after the incident, according to the Kosovo Police.
To carry out the attack, the suspects used a secondary road.
This remote part of the village of Varagë, located in the municipality of Zubin Potok, has only a few houses and is rarely trafficked.
In a statement to Teve1, the Kosovo Police confirmed they are interviewing and investigating other individuals in connection with the case.
“This is the road that is suspected to have been used by the perpetrators of the act, which has now been classified as a terrorist attack by the Government of Kosovo. The perpetrators traveled through Varagë village in Zubin Potok to reach the Ibër-Lepenc canal, where they placed approximately 20 kg of explosives. As we learned from sources within the Prosecutor’s Office, the Kosovo Police, specifically the K9 unit, found footprints in this area,” the statement said.
While the television team was on the scene, Kosovo Police investigators were seen questioning local residents as witnesses.
In a separate statement, the Kosovo Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
“Despite the arrests and the seizure of weapons, ammunition, and various equipment, the Police continue to carry out intensive investigations in cooperation and coordination with judicial authorities,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Zubin Potok, Izmir Zeqiri, emphasized that various pieces of evidence were found at the scene.
“When I was here, the area was already mobilized with a police unit deployed throughout the region. There was a heavy police presence, followed by additional reinforcements, and they naturally conducted several inspections. They likely found clues about where the perpetrators had been or where they had moved,” he said.
Efforts to repair the damage to the Ibër-Lepenc canal continued on Wednesday, with a bypass being set up to allow for the smoother flow of water from Ujmani Lake.
The television team also observed an increase in security measures near the lake, with Kosovo Police patrolling the area.
A police boat was seen operating in the region as well.
Strict security measures were also observed at the Bërnjak border crossing, where vehicles were being thoroughly inspected.
According to the Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo, the two brothers, Dragisha Viqentijevi and Jovan Viqentijeviq, are the main suspects in the Ibër-Lepenc case.
