The picturesque village of Lin, one of the most visited tourist destinations along the shores of Lake Pogradec, has officially been granted a new protective legal status.
All of the village’s traditional houses have now been declared part of an Architectural Ensemble, ensuring the preservation of Lin’s rich historical and cultural heritage for generations to come.
This decision marks a significant step in safeguarding the rare and unique values of Lin — a site already included in the UNESCO Protected Zone and under national heritage protection laws.
Most of the village’s buildings date back to the 18th and 19th centuries, constructed primarily from stone and featuring distinctive architectural details that set Lin apart from other villages in the region. This authenticity has earned Lin its reputation as a rare cultural treasure in southeastern Albania.
The new legal status is expected to open the door for sustainable tourism projects, including initiatives focused on archaeological areas where exceptional ancient artifacts have been discovered — further enriching the cultural and historical offering of Pogradec.
