A survey published by Politico shows that a majority of citizens in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and France believe the world is becoming more dangerous and that a third world war could break out within the next five years.
According to the poll conducted by Public First, the percentage of respondents who foresee a global conflict has risen significantly compared to 2025. In the United Kingdom, 43% of those surveyed consider a war likely by 2031, while in the United States that figure reaches 46%.
However, the survey also highlights public hesitation toward increasing military spending — particularly if it would require higher taxes, increased public debt, or cuts to public services.
