The Chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, paid tribute at the Heroes’ Cemetery to commemorate the 36th anniversary of the fall of Afrim Zhitia and Fahri Fazliu, two of Kosovo’s most revered freedom fighters.
Krasniqi emphasized that their memory remains alive, and that their legacy continues to guide the nation’s path toward freedom, independence, and progress.
“At the graves of our two heroes, Afrim Zhitia and Fahri Fazliu, we are not here just to lay flowers — but to reaffirm that their legacy lives on, in our memory, in our deeds, and in the road we continue to follow for a free, independent, and developed Kosovo,” Krasniqi said.
He noted that even after 36 years, their ideals remain as fresh and powerful as the day they gave their lives for their homeland.
“They were the embodiment of unity between word and action — proof that love for one’s country can be stronger than the fear of death,” he added.
Krasniqi also recalled that their courage and sacrifice became an inspiration for future generations, especially for those who later joined the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK) in the fight for freedom.
“Their spirit became the guiding light for the generation that carried the struggle to victory. Eternal glory to Afrim Zhitia and Fahri Fazliu!” Krasniqi concluded.
