The Democratic Union for Integration (BDI), the largest Albanian political party in North Macedonia, has stated that this year the Macedonian institutions did not congratulate Kosovo on its Independence Day anniversary.

Through a statement, the BDI emphasized that this action is not only a diplomatic omission but also a direct signal that undermines the spirit of good neighborliness and regional cooperation.

“They Forgot Kosovo, Honored Dodik – What is the Government’s Message?” With regret and deep concern, we note an unacceptable action that took place this year – for the first time, the institutions of the state, including the President, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, did not send an official public congratulation on the occasion of Kosovo’s Independence Day. This act is not only a diplomatic failure but also a direct signal that undermines the spirit of good neighborliness and regional cooperation.

“At the same time, with all state honors, Milorad Dodik was welcomed in our country – a political figure known for his destructive stance towards Euro-Atlantic processes and regional stability principles. This clear inconsistency in dealing with neighboring states sends a troubling message regarding the direction of our country’s politics. Such behavior is a consequence of the growing influence of the ‘Serb World’ concept in North Macedonia – a project that poses a threat to the sovereignty, European perspective, and strategic interests of the state. Promoting this ideology at the expense of friendly relations with Kosovo is unacceptable and harmful.”
