It is not uncommon for many citizens to falsely present themselves as officials, aiming to settle scores, gain benefits, get out of trouble they have gotten into, or other motives. Such a case is suspected to have occurred on Monday in the northern part of the country.

The suspect who ended up in police handcuffs had falsely presented himself when stopped for inspection by the police in Zveçan.

Media has exclusively learned that the person who presented himself as a Kosovo customs officer and refused to hand over his documents to the police is Dragoljub Markovic (46).

As a result, the 46-year-old suspect, who was under the influence of alcohol, was arrested and escorted to the police station.

By order of the prosecutor, a case has been initiated against him for the criminal offense of ‘False presentation as an official person’ and he has been placed in detention.

The news has also been confirmed by the Kosovo Police.

“The suspect, a male Serb, was arrested because when he was stopped by the police unit, he presented himself as a Kosovo customs officer and refused to hand over his personal documents, identification card, and to take the alcohol test as he was under the influence of alcohol. Regarding the case, the suspect, by decision of the prosecutor, has been placed in detention.”
