Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, speaking about threatening messages in northern Kosovo, stated that they are part of a hybrid warfare effort and attempts at destabilization.
He explained that such actions are also intended to intimidate the Serb population loyal to the Republic of Kosovo.
“This is a form of hybrid warfare aimed at preventing the situation in Kosovo from improving further. These are destabilization attempts, both politically and in terms of security. At the same time, they aim to intimidate part of the Serb population while encouraging others—particularly those loyal to the Republic of Kosovo—by showing their presence in Kosovo,” Sveçla said in an interview with Televizioni 1.
He emphasized that such groups do not have the potential to destabilize the country.
“I reiterate that their potential for destabilization does not exist, given that Kosovo’s institutions are strengthened in that part of the Republic. However, we take all provocations and incidents, no matter how minor, extremely seriously. We prepare for them and respond at the appropriate level,” he added.
On Tuesday evening, on Vasilije Ostrovski Street in northern Mitrovica, a threatening message addressed to Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, was found on a wall.
