In an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Mundo during his two-day visit to Madrid, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama discussed the decision to shut down TikTok in Albania.
When asked about the reasons for the decision, Rama repeated that “TikTok is toxic for children,” and stated that 95% of parents in Albania are terrified of the platform.
Rama confirmed that the platform will no longer be accessible in Albania within a few days. He explained, “TikTok is very toxic, especially for children, and 95% of parents in Albania are horrified. The suspension has not yet been carried out, but we expect it to happen within a few days. We are also engaging in constructive dialogue with them. I was surprised by your willingness to address our concerns. It will be closed and reopened only if TikTok meets all our requirements.”
