June 1, 2025 – Tirana, Albania – The Tirana Court has ordered pre-trial detention for eight individuals arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into arms trafficking between Kosovo and Albania.
The court accepted the prosecution’s request to impose the “arrest with prison” security measure on Emirel Tusha, Leandro Haxhiaj, Fabricio Berberi, Rikardo Hajdaraj, Visar Murati, Kevin Farruku, Geraldo Muraj, and Adriano Shehu.
None of the suspects spoke during the hearing, while their defense attorneys challenged the legality of the police operation. They argued that the sting operations were conducted unlawfully and that there is a lack of concrete evidence linking the detainees to the alleged crimes.
The defense also asked the court to declare the arrests unlawful, emphasizing that none of the suspects have prior criminal records.
In response, prosecutors submitted ballistics and forensic reports to the court regarding weapons previously seized during the arrests of Altin Pajaziti and Kadri Prushi. According to the evidence, one of the confiscated weapons was found to be non-functional.
