On August 31, 1971, one of the most prominent figures of the Albanian national cause, Hero of the Nation Bahri Fazliu, was born.
On this anniversary, many have remembered and honored his legacy, while a special tribute was shared by his nephew, Fahri Fazliu, who wrote on Facebook:
“Heroes only have birthdays. Today, 54 years ago, one of the most distinguished ideologues of the Albanian national cause was born, Hero of the Nation, Bahri Fazliu. Great people never die; they only have birthdays! Kosovo greatly misses Bahri’s vision and sharp pen.”
Bahri Fazliu fell heroically on May 7, 1998, in the Bogiqe Mountains, in the border triangle of Albania–Kosovo–Montenegro, giving his life for freedom and national unity.
“Bahri fell heroically on the altar of freedom on 07.05.1998, in the Bogiqe Mountains, in the border triangle of Albania–Kosovo–Montenegro! He fell to never die! Glory to the Hero of the Nation, Bahri Fazliu!” wrote Fahri Fazliu.
Bahri was the brother of Hero Fahri Fazliu, who on November 2, 1989, along with Afrim Zhitia, fell heroically in a confrontation with Serbian forces in the “Bregu i Diellit” neighborhood of Prishtina.
