Senior U.S. and Israeli military leaders held high-level talks at the Pentagon on Friday, amid escalating tensions with Iran, according to two U.S. officials cited by Reuters on Sunday.

The discussions took place between U.S. General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Eyal Zamir, Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, in a closed-door meeting that had not been previously reported. Officials declined to provide details about the content of the talks.

The meeting comes as the United States has increased its naval presence and strengthened air defenses in the Middle East, following repeated warnings by President Donald Trump toward Tehran, aimed at pushing Iran toward negotiations.

Iranian leaders have warned of a broader regional conflict if the United States launches an attack, raising concerns about potential military escalation in the Middle East.

Following his visit to Washington, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz met with General Zamir to review the regional security situation and assess the Israeli military’s operational readiness for any possible scenario, his office said.
