Scenes of panic and chaos unfolded in Durrës as a massive fire engulfed the Beach Market area, destroying large portions of businesses operating there. Images from the site show traders desperately trying to salvage their goods, while firefighters battle intense flames.
The fire, which broke out on Sunday afternoon, has burned through a significant part of the market, prompting a large-scale emergency response. Firefighting units continue to work tirelessly to contain and neutralize the blaze.
Due to the fast-spreading flames and the high risk posed to nearby structures, police evacuated residents from surrounding apartment buildings and hotels.
To strengthen the efforts of Durrës firefighting units, teams from Kamza have also been dispatched to the scene, aiming to control the fire more effectively and prevent its spread to other areas.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire, and an investigation is expected to follow once the situation is fully under control.
