As of March 1, border controls between Kosovo and Albania have come into effect.
In Morina, long queues are observed on both sides of the border, especially in the morning hours on the Kosovo side, while midday and evening hours mark long lines at the Albanian border entry point.
Drivers from both sides of the border are requesting that document checks not be enforced and that the free movement agreement be applied instead.
The waiting times are particularly long for heavy-duty vehicle drivers, reaching up to two hours.
Both sides of the border are working with eight lanes, but the high volume of movement does not prevent the formation of queues at the border.
The free movement agreement between the two countries came into effect at the end of May last year, allowing citizens of Kosovo and Albania to move freely across the border, avoiding border queues.
