Belgium is in shock following the brutal murder of a 46-year-old Ukrainian mother and her 6-year-old daughter, whose lifeless bodies were found in their burned home. The victims were part of a displaced Ukrainian family who had been living in Belgium for the past three years after fleeing the war.

Authorities report that stab wounds were found on both bodies, suggesting they were murdered before the fire was deliberately set to cover up the crime. The case has drawn nationwide attention, especially given that the father is currently serving on the frontlines in Ukraine, fighting in defense of his country.

The tragic event occurred around 9:30 AM in Hasrode, near Oud-Heverlee. According to Belgian media, the mother succumbed to her stab wounds at the scene. Her daughter was found unconscious and despite attempts to revive her, she too was pronounced dead.

An investigation is underway, with Belgian police treating the case as a double homicide.
