SENJ, Croatia — A tragic accident claimed the lives of four people on Thursday in the coastal city of Senj, Croatia, after a car veered off the road and plunged into the sea under still unclear circumstances.

According to Croatian police, the incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. local time. Emergency services recovered the bodies of two men and two women, who were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims’ bodies have been transferred to the city of Rijeka for autopsy, while investigators continue to work on determining the exact cause and circumstances of the crash.
