Train Collides with Bus in Hamburg, One Dead and Ten Injured

A collision between a bus and a train in the port area of Hamburg on Friday resulted in one fatality and ten injured, according to the Hamburg fire service, speaking to AFP.

All injured individuals were passengers on the bus, while the person who died succumbed to injuries at the scene. A fire service spokesperson confirmed that two people were seriously injured, while six others sustained minor injuries.

Several of the injured received first aid at the scene, while others were transported to hospital for further treatment. The bus driver was the last to be freed, as he had been trapped inside the vehicle following the impact.

Police stated that the accident occurred at an unprotected crossing in the heart of Hamburg’s extensive port area, for reasons that remain unclear. Authorities confirmed that the victim died from injuries sustained during the collision.

Rescue operations are ongoing, and the police forensic department has been mobilized to assist with the investigation. Meanwhile, a waiting area for relatives of the victims has been set up at the nearest bus station.
